Setting up Internet Access via GPRS on a Siemens SX66

The following is a Cingular ATG(R) eServer solution:

Goal       Accessing browser settings on the Siemens SX66

Fact       Siemens SX66

Fact       Microsoft Pocket PC 2003 Phone Edition

Symptom    Internet access

Fix        

Prerequisite:

The APN will need to be set first, to ensure connection.

  1. Tap Start.
  2. Tap Settings.

     
  3. Tap the Connections tab.
  4. Tap the Connections icon.

     
  5. Tap the Tasks tab.
  6. Tap Edit my proxy server.

  7. Verify settings:
  8. bulletCheck "This network connects to the Internet."
    bulletUncheck "this network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet".
  9. Tap OK.
  10. Tap the Advanced tab.

     
  11. Tap Select networks.

     
  12. Choose "MEdia Net" or "GPRS Connection" from the dropdown bar.

     
    1. Tap New.
    2. Input "MEdia Net"
    3. Tap the Modem tab.
    4. Enter a name for the connection and select "Cellular Line (GPRS) as the Modem. Tap Next.
    5. Enter the appropriate APN. Tap Next.
    6. Enter the associated username and password. tap Finish.
    7. Tap the Proxy settings tab.
    8. Verify "This network connects to the Internet" is checked.
    9. Tap OK.
    bulletNote: If "MEdia Net" or "GPRS Connection" doesn't appear as an option:
  13. Tap OK twice.
  14. If problem persists, please contact Cingular Customer Care.



Note       APN: Access Point Name.
